ALEXANDRA ABINGTON

Alex is a first-year MBA student at Columbia Business School, and is a recipient of the
school’s Feldberg Fellowship as well as a McKinsey Emerging Scholar.


Alex began her career at BlackRock as an Analyst in 2012 on the Financial Markets
Advisory team, which provides capital markets advisory services to financial institutions
and their regulators. During the first two years she spent on the team, Alex worked on a broad set of engagements, including leading part of a 9-month
diagnostic review of the Greek banking sector for the Central Bank of Greece. After
being promoted to Associate, Alex spent a year working closely with senior management
to develop an expansion and transformation plan for the Advisory business.
In 2015, Alex transitioned roles internally to the Corporate Strategy & Development
team, which develops strategic priorities and partners with senior leaders to identify and
pursue growth opportunities. During her time on the team, she worked on projects
developing long-term strategies for BlackRock’s technology businesses. Alex also
partnered with multiple client and product businesses to evaluate potential inorganic
acquisitions.

Alex graduated Phi Beta Kappa and cum laude with a BA in Economics from Vanderbilt
University in 2012. She also completed a minor in Financial Economics.
Alex grew up in Washington, DC and formerly lived in the Middle East. Today, she
enjoys being involved in the NYC community through organizations like the New York
Junior League and Dress for Success. Her other interests include country music, fantasy
football and New York real estate.
