Omar Ritter hails from a military family in Charleston, SC and currently resides in Charlotte, NC. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in May 2000 with a major in Management and minor in Mechanical Engineering. After graduating from West Point, Omar served five years in the Army as a light cavalry officer where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for gallantry in combat during the initial invasion of Iraq in 2003. He also deployed to Kosovo during his tour of duty.
Omar currently is currently the Head of Enterprise Planning at TIAA-CREF. Previously, Omar worked as a Director of Financial Planning & Analysis as well as a Director of Mergers & Acquisitions at Praxair. He was responsible for analytics, financial modeling and monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting for senior management. Prior to Praxair, he worked for Boston Scientific as a Senior Manager in both Financial Planning & Analysis and Mergers & Acquisitions. In this dual role, he created the company's financial models and conducted market analysis for investment opportunities. Omar began his post MBA career as an Investment Banking Associate at Bank of America.
Additionally, he earned an MBA with a concentration in Finance and Management from Columbia Business School in 2007 and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) who additionally holds the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation.
